Distinguished Service Medal

Be it known and remembered: Nurse David Hernandez has been with the Salt Lake County Jail Nursing Department for two years. Even though he has only been employed with the office for a short time, he is one of the primary orientation nurses.

He is depended on to educate new staff and sets the standard for these new employees to follow. Each time Dave is called on to orient new employees, he does this without complaint and with a positive attitude.

Throughout the past year, the unit has had to function at critical staffing levels due to budget constraints. However, any time the unit is desperate for staffing, Dave is always ready and willing to step up and work over time shifts, even on short notice to fill this urgent need. Dave Hernandez is a dedicated employee of the Sheriff's Office and contributes on a daily basis to the mission of the Sheriff's Office and the nursing unit.

Now, therefore, be it resolved, David Hernandez be awarded the Sheriff's Distinguished Service Medal for his exceptional performance of duty and service to the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office as well as the community.

We are so proud of Dave for his hard work.

Family Fun

Saturday was a fun family day. Aleecia had a soccer game and she even scored a goal! Her team is surprisingly good. Another win for the Dragons.

Dave thought it would be fun if we went to Tracey Aviary. I have never been so I really wanted to go. We got to see a lot of birds. Aleecia didn't like the Condor because he was eating another bird and she didn't like the Peacock because it honked at her.

When we were leaving we noticed that the park had rides and Aleecia had to ride them. The first ride we went on was the swing. It spun you around in a circle. I figured it would be like the big swing at Lagoon but I was so wrong. I had to close my eyes the whole time because I was going to lose it. Aleecia absolutely loved it! She kept scramming and laughing. After that ride I was done for. Dave took the girls on the carousel and Aleecia on the Farris wheel.

On the way home Dave had to stop at 711 to get me Dramamine. I must be getting old cause I don't remember getting that sick from a short little ride. Once the medication started working we bought some flowers for my pots. Mia loves playing in the dirt! For some reason she likes to throw it over her head. Aleecia has always loved watering the trees and plants. Something I think she got from my mom. All in all it was a great family fun day!

2010 Mothers Day

Happy Mothers Day to me!

Soccer

Aleecia had her very first soccer game on Saturday. We showed up an hour early. I was thinking Aleecia was on another team and we came at the wrong time. (Yes another reason why I deserve "Mother of the Year" award.) It was fun watching the two teams run up and down the field with the ball. Aleecia was not as aggressive as we know she can be but she had fun and that's what matters. Aleecia had a chance to play goalie and got to kick the ball in. Aleecia's team won 1-0! Afterwards Aleecia made it known that she likes soccer better then baseball.

Tooth fairy

Aleecia lost a tooth at school on Friday. Friday night mom and dad discovered they had no cash. Well, maybe Aleecia will forget the tooth and not put it under her pillow. Yeah right! Well, maybe the tooth fairy doesn't come on Fridays. Yeah right! Well, maybe the tooth fairy comes during the day. Whatever! Needless to say Aleecia woke up very disappointed that the tooth fairy didn't come. To help cheer her up I suggested we write the tooth fairy a note and explain that she needs to come at night.

When Aleecia went to put the note under her pillow with her tooth she discovered that the tooth fairy came and left her $20.00! The tooth fairy must have felt really bad for being so late that she left more money to try and make up for it. Aleecia's parents sure have deserved the worlds worst parents award this year. First the Easter Bunny and now the tooth fairy.
