Mia Turns 1!

A year goes by so fast around here. I can't believe that Mia turned 1 yesterday. To celebrate we had family over. The highlight of the night was watching Mia enjoy her cake. Its tradition in Davids family to smash their face in the cake but, when David smashed Aleecia's face in the cake I got really mad at him. So instead of smashing Mia's face in the cake he smeared frosting all over her face. She loved it!

Why Mia is Special:

She loves to take things out of buckets and put them back.

Every time she hears music she dances.

If you take something away from her she gets mad and throws a fit until you give it back.

She bobs her head when you say "what's up" but she does it down instead of up.

Sometimes when she smiles she squints her eyes and shows off her teeth.

She loves our bird Daisy and gets excited when she sees her.

She loves her big sister Aleecia and laughs at her all the time.

She gives hugs.

When she gets sleepy she becomes a mommas girl.

She loves playing with our cell phones and has called 911 twice.

St. Patty's Day

I wanted to do something special for St. Patrick's day. I love holidays and want them to be special for the girls. I thought it would be fun to have dinner made up of green food.

I made pinwheels for an appetizer.

Spinach stuffed chicken served with a green salad and a green roll for the main course.

And then a fudge brownie topped with mint chocolate chip ice cream for dessert.

I thought I was being very creative. When David got home he tried the pinwheels then spit them out. Then he tried the chicken and told me it wasn't his favorite (meaning he didn't like it). Then he told me the rolls were dry. Aleecia started going through the fridge and asked me if I would make her a cheese roll-up. So much for making a special meal. I thought the food was good.

Mia enjoyed the green rolls.

And Aleecia ate the ice cream.

Another Disney on Ice

Disney on Ice Worlds of Fantasy came to town so of course we had to go. Worlds of Fantasy presents four favorite Disney stories, Cars, Lion King, Little Mermaid, and Tinker Bell. Aleecia was so excited to go she kept the count down. Aleecia said that her favorite part was the Lion King and I think that was Davids favorite too. I enjoyed the Cars. Mia didn't like much of any of the show. The last half she was so tired and cranky I had to take her out. I was a little upset that I missed Tinker Bell but what are you to do.

Electrical

We decided to go with recessed lighting for the basement. Thirty lights later we have light, a lot of light. All electrical work was estimated to be finished Saturday but, he didn't realize how much light we were having put up. Instead of just one day it has taken two days and it's still not finished. We have electrical lines everywhere.

Leakage! Major Leakage!

Since Dave and I have been married we have never gone grocery shopping without the other. On our last trip to the store we needed to buy diapers. I proceeded to put size 4 diapers on our cart when Dave noticed the size he was concerned. He looked at the recommended weight on the size 3 and 4. Mia weighs 22 pounds which is at the higher end of the size 3 and the lower end of size 4. Being the frugal guy that he is he figured that we could buy the size 3 and get more diapers for the price. I foolishly agreed. The first couple of weeks of using the diapers was fine. Mia was constipated and wasn't having her regular squashy poops (I know, TMI). Now that she is regular we have had exploding diapers after another. Last night was the final straw. I reached over Mia during the night and felt moisture! The diaper had leaked pee all over her and the bed! So, I had to wake her up to change her diaper, clothes and bedding. I don't remember Aleecia having so many leaky/exploding diapers as a baby. So, now I have a bunch of size 3 diapers and need size 4 but I can't buy any until I have used all of the size 3 diapers. I can't just waste them. What to do, what to do?
